Labour party will be on the ballot for all 40 constituency positions in Lagos. - Hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin
Hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin the Kosofe constituency 2 assembly candidate for Labour in Lagos has assured all concerned Lagosians that Labour party will be represented on the ballot in all the 40 constituency positions in Lagos state for the gubernatorial and house of assembly election scheduled for Saturday 11th of March 2023.
The popular grassroot politician made this assertion on Friday in a press release. He added that the information has become imperative based on the unfortunate situation whereby the partys logo was conspicuously missing for some house of representatives and senatorial positions at the last general elections on the 25th of February 2023.
Furthermore, he added that the party does not have any pending issues with inec because it successfully uploaded all the gubernatorial and state house of assembly positions at the close of inec portal in July 2023, even though a huge number of the people uploaded were actually placeholders.
Hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin went further to explain the omission of his name on inec portal even though it was initially uploaded in a different constituency of ikorodu even though he was the assembly candidate of labour party for Kosofe, a position he noted has now been corrected by the top hierarchy of the party. He specifically mentioned the state chairmans name Mrs Dayo Ekong and that of the deputy gubernatorial candidate Princess Islamiat Oyefusi.
Finally, hon Okufuwa Samad drew the attention of Nigerians that majority of the candidates running for house of assembly elections at this point do not have their names registered on inec portal but added that it won't change the facts that they are the partys candidates as long as they have been cleared by the party, he based his assertion on a court judgment gotten by the party on the 3rd February against the independent electoral commission wherein Justice Ekwo held that INEC was bound to accept the Labour Party’s candidates’ list manually, once its electronic nomination portal became faulty.
The judge, consequently, ordered INEC to open its website for the purpose of allowing Labour Party to submit the list of its candidates or accept same manually with immediate effect
