4 South-west Governors Absent from Saraki’s Daughter’s Lavish Wedding in Lagos

All road led to the Ballroom, Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on Saturday for the traditional wedding engagement of Oluwatosin Halima, daughter of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
It was the first in a three-pronged lavish wedding ceremony between Halima and Adeniyi Olatunde Olukoya.
The engagement was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and at least 15 Governors from across the country.

Also in attendance were topmost traditional rulers like the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 1.
The Senate President’s wife, Toyin, hails from the Ojora family of Lagos.
There was no doubt that Senate President Bukola Saraki was out to make a political statement with the wedding.
But despite extending invitations and repeated reminders to all the governors of the South-west, only two governors from the zone, Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) attended the wedding.
Both Amosun and Akeredolu are Saraki’s main allies in the South-west. Together, they plotted the emergence at all cost of Akeredolu as Ondo Governor.
President Muhammadu Buhari in a congratulatory letter to the new couple presented by his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, wished them well.

House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, his deputy, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, many Senators and House members also attended the event.
Among the comperes at the event were Ali Baba, Ayo Makun. On the bad stand among others were King Sunny Ade.
The second leg of the wedding, the Mother’s Night Cultural Reception would hold in Abuja on December 7, 2017 while the last, the Wedding Reception Celebration is slated for Abuja on December 8
