OPEN LETTER TO NCC #NoToDataPriceIncrease

Dear NCC,

We have been reliably informed that you plan to increase the price of Internet data plans for all service providers nationwide.

We consider this development completely onerous and unsympathetic to the plight of the public. It is no more news that the country is in a recession, and to gulp down the surreal proposal of an independent authority, saddled with the task of regulating the price at which Nigerians get access to Internet facility and peg it at a very cheap and affordable rate is about to increase the price, in this era, is appealing and depressing.

Project Change Nigeria, an Advocacy Group with a membership of over 30, 000 Nigerian youths STRONGLY condemn this proposal and demand that it be immediately rescinded and NEVER implemented.

We believe that in line with section 3 of the Nigeria Communications Act of 2003, the public should be consulted with before a onerous and outrageous proposal like this is made, most especially in a recession period. Therefore, we implore the NCC to not implement this vile, illogical, and unsympathetic proposal, rather, to look for ways to make access to Internet cheaper than it is currently for Nigerians.

Nigerians deserve to enjoy nothing but the best of all things: we will not be laid-back while this privilege is taken away from us for no logical reason.

We strongly hope that you will not implement this proposal and will rather look for ways to reduce the current prices.

Thank you for your cooperation.

God Bless Nigeria!

Signed: GA and DGA
For: Project Change Nigeria.
