Massive Sack At Zenith Bank PLC Over The Weekend

They all left the Office last Friday feeling on top of the World...
Some woke up on Saturday to Notifications that their services were no longer needed at the Bank and many more will be notified this week!

This past weekend, Zenith bank sacked more than 2,000 staff. There was no warning, no rumors, nothing!


As a matter of fact, two Executive Directors were promoted to Deputy Managing Director by Jim Ovia himself last week and some other top management were also promoted.

 
Most of the staff believed there was an imminent mass staff promotion looming soonest and went home for the weekend with joy and hope.


So you can imagine the shock when a lot of people were notified on Saturday up till today that their services are no longer required. And more sack to continue even this week.

In this harsh economy and with Christmas a month away, what a cruel inhumane thing to do. Most of these people have worked for more than 10years, staying loyal to the brand. Some have made sacrifices for this bank but were laid off so wickedly.

Where is the Minister of labour in this country? Did they not notify banks to cease laying off their staff? Oh I weep for my country Nigeria! I weep for the sacked staff and their families! I weep, Oh I weep!''

In a Friday letter addressed to the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, the NLC accused the Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Julius Abure, and his associates of planning an illegal convention in defiance of court orders. The NLC’s solicitors, Falana and Falana’s Chambers, in the letter dated March 22, 2024, highlighted the illegality of such a gathering, citing previous court rulings that declared the Labour Party’s status and ordered inclusive conventions. Once again, the Labour Party Campaign Organisation is inundated with calls on the purported replacement of Chief Sola Ebiseni, our Governorship candidate, with Ayo Olorunfemi less than 24 hours to the Ondo State Governorship election tomorrow. Contrary to the false report, the candidacy of Ebiseni was the decision of the Party presided over by the National Working Committee led by Julius Abure of which Ayo Olorunfemi is a member after the latter, who was a placeholder, voluntarily withdrew his candidacy backed with sworn affidavit, an undisputed fact confirmed by the Courts.
