Nigerians Your Mumu Don Do. #NoToDataPriceIncrease

Image
Someone just posted this and it kept me thinking about this nation. Only God can help the next generation. Our father left something good for this generation but see what is happening. Hmmmm. It is well Data Is The New Petrol Unbelievable! I just read this lame excuse in the Punch that the Federal Government took the decision to hike data rates because the price of data is very low in Nigeria, compared to other countries, including nearby African countries. Is data the new petrol? Can Benin Republic steal our data from the air or from underwater cables? Can data be smuggled? What if Nigeria has the cheapest rates? Se oro niyen? Do neighboring countries have Nigeria's population? The Telcos are not complaining.  Why is it "paining" you? Is it your data? When regulators in other countries are pressing for more Internet penetration, Nigerian government is subverting it. While other countries are driving rates down, we are hiking it. Hoping to freeze discontent, ...

OPEN LETTER TO NCC #NoToDataPriceIncrease

Image
Dear NCC, We have been reliably informed that you plan to increase the price of Internet data plans for all service providers nationwide.  We consider this development completely onerous and unsympathetic to the plight of the public. It is no more news that the country is in a recession, and to gulp down the surreal proposal of an independent authority, saddled with the task of regulating the price at which Nigerians get access to Internet facility and peg it at a very cheap and affordable rate is about to increase the price, in this era, is appealing and depressing. Project Change Nigeria, an Advocacy Group with a membership of over 30, 000 Nigerian youths STRONGLY condemn this proposal and demand that it be immediately rescinded and NEVER implemented.  We believe that in line with section 3 of the Nigeria Communications Act of 2003, the public should be consulted with before a onerous and outrageous proposal like this is made, most especially in a recess...

The federal government of Nigeria is making serious moves to ensure that popular Ponzi Scheme, MMM operations is shut down in Nigeria. ‎ Speaking at the 2016 Lagos International Trade Fair, the managing director of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, said that regulators have set up a committee to end the nefarious activities of the ‘fraudsters’ across the country.   I wish to sound a word of caution to members of the public on the activities of illegal fund managers, otherwise known as Wonder Banks. It is worrisome to note that despite repeated advice, many unsuspecting members of the public are still falling victims to the mouth-watering interest being offered by these illegal fund managers. Members of the public are therefore advised to patronise only banking institutions that display the NDIC sticker: “Insured by NDIC” in their banking halls or entrances. However, the regulatory authorities have set up an inter-agency committee ...
