Bindow denies receiving N500m ‘personal gift’ from Atiku
Adamawa State Governor Muhammed Bindow said he did not receive a personal gift of N500 million from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as being peddled in some quarters.
The governor, who made the clarification through phone call with journalists on Wednesday, explained that the money was donated by the former vice president to facilitate the prosecution of the 2015 governorship and assembly elections campaign activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
‘’Contrary to allegation which has gone viral in the social media; I didn’t receive the sum of N500 million from the former vice president as personal gift.
He said that the former vice president donated the money for the APC governorship and state assembly campaign activities and not to “Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow.”
‘’The former vice president demanded to know how much the APC governorship and state assembly campaign committee will need to ensure effective prosecution of the campaign.
‘
’A bill of N300 million was forwarded to him, but he gave N500 million for the exercise as part of his contribution as a party loyalist.
‘’The money was released by the former vice president after the conclusion of the APC presidential primaries.
‘’It is expedient for me to put the record straight because the allegations have gone viral in some online media that I have received a personal gift of N500 million from Atiku Abubakar.”
