2027 Reflections: The Culture of Political Violence in Nigeria -HON OLUMUYIWA DIXON

Image
The aftermath of assault and violence leaves a profound mark on victims, both physically and psychologically. His shirt was left disheveled, hair tousled, and expressions frozen in a mix of confusion and  shock as he grappled with whether to plead, escape, or simply endure the onslaught of blows that landed in his face.  It was 3 years ago, Popular Anambra-based pastor, Chukwuemeka Odumeje, known as ‘Indaboski Bahose the Liquid Metal,’ got manhandled by security agents in Onitsha. Odumeje, a sole individual, had attempted to protest the demolition of his church by  a team of government officials accompanied by armed security personnel . The widely reported incident, in which Odumeje was publicly subjected to inappropriate treatment by security personnel, garnered considerable public attention.  But rather than addressing the injustice of the experience he suffered, much of the public discourse centered on his lack of supernatural response. Many questioned why Odumeje...

Ignore INEC shenanigans ,Sola Ebiseni remains the Governorship candidate of Labour Party.

Image
Ignore all machinations, Sola Ebiseni remains the Governorship candidate of Labour Party. Once again, the Labour Party Campaign Organisation is inundated with calls on the purported replacement of Chief Sola Ebiseni, our Governorship candidate, with Ayo Olorunfemi less than 24 hours to the Ondo State Governorship election tomorrow. Contrary to the false report, the candidacy of Ebiseni was the decision of the Party presided over by the National Working Committee led by Julius Abure of which Ayo Olorunfemi is a member after the latter, who was a placeholder, voluntarily withdrew his candidacy backed with sworn affidavit, an undisputed fact confirmed by the Courts. For the umpteenth time and avoidance of doubt, Ayo Olorunfemi was not a party to any of the cases either at the High Court or the Court of Appeal and his Appeal as an Interested party was dismissed. There is no subsisting order of any court directing the INEC to remove or replace the name of Chief Olusola Nehemiah Ebiseni and ...

Image
DISCLAIMER! DISCLAIMER!! DISCLAIMER!!! The attention of the leadership of Labour Party had been drawn to a dishonest, underhanded, crooked, false, deceiving, phony and misleading public statement by the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Committee and it's appointment of a caretaker committee for Labour Party in Gombe state. The Nigeria Labour Congress and it's political commission should be reminded that it is merely a pressure group and not in any way and manner a political party nor an organ of Labour Party Nigeria. Furthermore, it is rather unfortunate that while some well meaning members of the party are striving and making all attempts to set the Labour Party on the right part, good stead and the desire to steer the ship of the nation on the part of growth and genuine develop, NLC on its own part is determined to destroy, pull down, tear down, knock down and demolish the party. Subsequently, we will like to remind the NLC and it's destructive Political commission that...
