In this interview with MAYOWA SAMUEL, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Ifagbemi Awamaridi, insists he is still an authentic state party chairman. He described the recent substitution primary and the reconciliatory meeting as a charade and a comedy show. Excerpts: The national leadership of your party insists you are not its authentic Lagos governorship candidate, a claim which you have vehemently opposed. A governorship substitution primary election was also conducted to determine the party’s flag bearer for the state as they insist you were a placeholder. What’s your own side of the story?  Prince Ifagbemi Awamaridi, the Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Lagos State in the 2023 general elections, says the party is contesting to win elections in the state. Awamaridi, who made this remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said the party would not compromise the various ambitions of the party for monetary advances. Awamaridi said: “Labour party is out to contest and win elections in the state. “We have never compromised with anybody on elections in Lagos. The Ndigbo (Ikuku) socio cultural group in Lagos has announced it's decision to add it's weight behind the governorship aspirant of Prince Adewale Gomez. Rising from their meeting on Tuesday the 8th of February 2022, the groups spokesman Chief Levi Ugorji, in his address highlighted some of the reasons behind their decision to support their choice aspirant. I was dismayed by the statement credited to the former Publicity Secretary of our great party and the subsequent rebuttal by the Publicity Secretary of the rulling party in the state. Prince Adewale Gomez has sent a condolence message to Dr. Olajide Adeniran and the 'Lagos for Lagos' family on the loss of their matron and stalwart, Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya whose sudden demise occured earlier today. In his message, and on bealf of his Wale Gomez movement, he prayed for her eternal rest and also for her family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
