Don't blame our leaders, Nigeria's problems are self inflicted by its citizens - Hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin

The barrage of political and economic drawbacks that Nigeria has been facing for so many years has been outlined to be self inflicted.

The above description of the current crisis in the country was stated in a press release on Saturday by the Kosofe constituency 2 assembly candidate for Labour party in Lagos, hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin.

The politician who is also a public relations officer for the general alumni of Maryland comprehensive secondary school Ikeja, his mosque at iirawo Owode onirin just to mention a few said that Nigerians should search from within to obtain the answers to untold hardship  in the country.

Hon Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin went further to quote a Yoruba saying that goes thus:  “Amukun eru e wo, oke le nwo…e o wo isale" which if translated means a shout out to a K-legged person carrying a load on his head that the load is bent, he replies back by saying you are focusing at the top alone and neglecting the bottom, including in his statement that a distorted state of affairs can often be traced to an equally distorted foundation on which the affairs are being conducted.

What's more he added that until Nigerians are ready to move out of their comfort zones to vote for politicians with impeccable character and verifiable competence nothing is going to change.

Finally, he said that the holy books of the bible and Quran are quite explicit about this item, stating that God already made it clear that he wasn't going to change the condition of a people until they change their ways, which invariably means that the leadership of any society is a direct reflection of how the people are, adding that Nigerians should take a retrospective self assessment by first changing themselves and they will be shocked at the outcome, adding that it is the only panacea to resolve the issues.
