OPEN LETTER: Abia community cries out to Abia and AkwaIbom state governments for help
The indigenes and residence of Ariam Osuigwe community in Abia state have sent a save our soul (SOS) appeal to both the Abia and Akwa Ibom state government, to save them from the incessant attacks from indigines of utunda community in Akwa Ibom state whom they share a common boundary with. Investigations by an Advocacy group PROJECT CHANGE NIGERIA revealed that on daily basis lives and properties are being lost to a feud that was traced to land dispute that has gone unabated for decades. A member of the group Miss Adaugo who is an indigene of Ariam Osuigwe narrated their ordeal thus: *It is no news that Ariam osuigwe auto community and the indigenes of (ntuudan) ibibios are engaged in a serious war, killing each other, burning down houses and kidnapping people here and there. * It all began, decades ago, when the ibibios suddenly migrated very close to a place, much closer to the people of Ariam.
