The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational (NASU) in Osun State University have accused the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola, of mismanaging over N106million funds of the institution.  The union in a petition dated October 18, 2017, alleged that Popoola had since the beginning of his tenure in November 2016, syphoned and mismanaged the state-owned institution’s N106,607,592.00. Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has rejected the quota system being practised in the country saying it is detrimental to the progress of any nation. He therefore insisted that Nigeria must insist on merit in the conduct of our national affairs. The Vice President also attributed the lack of development of the nation to corruption perpetrated by politicians in collaboration with the elite and religious leaders. The University of Lagos has appointed Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, a professor of Botany, has its new Vice-Chancellor. He becomes the 12th vice Chancellor of the university and will succeed Professor Rahamon Bello. Prof. Ogundipe is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the UNILAG, Toyin Adebule confirmed his appointment. “He has been appointed, as our new VC,” he said.

Players of Taraba Football Club and Taraba Queens were on Thursday assaulted by the Nigeria Police during a peaceful protest demanding their almost a year and half unpaid salaries in Jalingo, the state capital. The football players had gathered before the Taraba State Government House and prevented anyone from entering their offices or getting inside the premises. A player from Taraba Queens who pleaded anonymity, said the state government deliberately withheld the salaries and bonuses, despite the bailout funds given to them by the Federal Government in the past months. The players resolved to stay at the premises of the Government House until the issue was resolved, and efforts government officials who tried to persuade them to leave failed. A South-African news website, quoted John as saying that the husband of his pregnant girlfriend immediately forgave him on receiving the car. “I know what I did is wrong but I feel better he has accepted my gift. Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Col. Ado Ekiti-‎ No fewer than 5,000 out of the 10,000 members of the Okada Riders Tricycles’ Association of Nigeria(ORTAN), Ekiti chapter, possessed between National Certificate of Education and‎ Bachelor Degrees. The Association’s State Deputy Chairman, Olusola Isola and Public Relations Officer Sikirulahi Akindipe, said the body has been able to overcome the challenge of reckless riding, leading to killing and maiming of the citizens through their partnership with the police and other security agencies.
